The instructors at Rigby's Jig are some of the friendliest, patient and knowledgeable teachers in the area. We make learning to dance fun! Our focus is making sure you enjoy your lessons, learn as much as you can and feel confident on the dance floor. Our clients are important to us and we make sure you're always getting the most out of your lessons. Our instructors love teaching dance and have varying areas of expertise so everyone can find an instructor to meet their needs at Rigby's Jig.
Eleanor Robertson opened Rigby's Jig Dance Studio in 2003. She started dancing at the age of 3 at Martinique School of Dance here in Richmond. Eleanor graduated from The George Washington University with a Bachelor's in Theatre & Dance. She enjoys spending time with her husband Tim and their amazing children Bella & Burkley who both love cutting a rug at Rigby’s Jig! Her favorite dances are West Coast Swing, Hustle, Cha Cha & Tango.
David was born and raised in the Philadelphia area. He lived in Tallassee, Florida for 19 years and moved to Richmond in 2000 where he works full-time as a high school teacher at Collegiate School. He has his B.S. in physical chemistry from Juniata College and his Ph.D. in nuclear chemistry from Florida State University. He met Eleanor in Richmond, David a student and Eleanor a teacher, and followed her to her new studio where he began working with Eleanor in the spring of 2005. David has been dancing since 1990.
Nicole moved to Richmond the beginning of 2010 from New York City where she was the Executive Producer and Business Manager for the Actor’s Harbor Theatre and Snug Harbor Cultural Center. Having been a musical theatre performer since the age of six, Nicole has a strong dance background and discovered the art of partner dancing at Rigby’s Jig where she is currently not only an instructor but also serves as Special Events Coordinator and is a Certified BeMoved® Instructor. She is thrilled to be a member of the Rigby’s Jig family!
Chris Broom was born and raised in Mechanicsville, Virginia. He graduated from Lee Davis High School in 1990. Chris enjoys golf, competitive archery, in-line skating, fishing, and numerous other outdoor activities with his 2 sons, Collin and Mason. "I am thankful everyday for the opportunity to bring the joy and communication of partner dance to the community." Chris' favorite dances are Argentine Tango, Niteclub, Salsa, and West Coast Swing.
Retired from the State of Virginia after 34 years of service in the fields of both IT and Finance and is now teaching ballroom dance. “My favorite dance changes periodically but currently I'm enjoying West Coast Swing and Night Club Two Step just a little more than other dances. The Waltz is one of my favorite dances to teach.”
Baramon, a native of Thailand, moved to the U.S. with her family when she was a young child. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Penn State University, a Master of Social Work degree from Rutgers University, and is licensed by the VA Board of Health Professions for clinical practice. Baramon began dancing in 2006 and has been in love with it ever since. When she’s not dancing, Baramon loves to spend time with her son and works as a photographer. Her favorite dances are Salsa, Bachata and West Coast Swing.
Sarah Warnick, an instructor at Rigby´s Jig since 2004, comes to the ballroom world with a background in classical dance. While growing up in Tidewater, she trained and performed with the Virginia Beach Ballet and later with the University of Richmond´s University Dancers. A graduate of University of Richmond and University of Virginia, Sarah is a Spanish instructor and content developer with the Virginia Department of Education. Sarah is a Certified BeMoved® Instructor and enjoys all styles of dance, her favorites are swing, tango and salsa.
Angel A. Rodriguez Serrano, originally from New York, has participated in international dance events and has been instructing different types of Latin dances for over 20 years and Ballroom for over 10 years in Puerto Rico, New York State, North Carolina and is now here in Richmond. Warning: Angel's classes are held in a moving hip zone and may be considered too hot for some.
Lori grew up in York County, Pennsylvania and relocated to Virginia in 2008. Lori joined the Rigby’s Jig family in 2013 and quickly fell in love with ballroom and social dancing. In her spare time, Lori enjoys reading, cake decorating, outdoor activities and spending time with her husband and children. Lori’s favorite dances are Argentine Tango, West Coast Swing, Hustle and Line Dancing.
